Adult ADHD Evaluation, Diagnosis & Treatment — Telehealth in Maine

Objective insights. More accurate answers.

Every evaluation here includes MindMetrix and Creyos, completed from home before your visit. Here’s what they are, what they measure, and how I use them.

Why add objective testing?

ADHD is diagnosed through a careful clinical interview and your history. But much of that history depends on what you remember and how you describe it, and a lifetime of coping can make symptoms hard to see, even for you.

Objective, structured measures add another line of evidence. They show how your attention and thinking actually perform, and they help separate ADHD from conditions that look like it. The goal is a conclusion that rests on more than any one source.

Before your visit · Questionnaire

MindMetrix

A comprehensive psychiatric pre-screening assessment. Rather than screening for ADHD alone, it looks for elevated likelihood across more than 60 conditions.

  • Possible ADHD, plus anxiety, depression, sleep, and other look-alike or co-occurring conditions
  • How symptoms affect your day-to-day functioning
  • How severe those symptoms are

How it helps: less time on preliminary questions during your visit, and a wider net for anything a narrow ADHD screen could miss. It guides where I look closer; it isn’t a diagnosis.

Before your visit · Cognitive tasks

Creyos

A set of short, game-like computer tasks completed from home. Your results are compared with norms for people your age.

  • Attention
  • Working memory
  • Processing speed
  • Response control (impulsivity)

How it helps: it adds objective data alongside your history, so the answer doesn’t rest on self-report alone. There’s no pass or fail, and nothing to study for.

Plus validated rating scales

Alongside MindMetrix and Creyos, I use validated rating scales such as the CAARS (Conners’ Adult ADHD Rating Scales). The self-report is usually completed between the evaluation and your results visit, and an observer report from someone who knows you well can add another view.

Data that helps tailor your care

Testing doesn’t stop at the diagnosis. In follow-up care, I repeat rating scales over time, so changes to your plan are guided by measured progress, not guesswork. That’s called measurement-based care.

What testing can’t do

No single test can diagnose ADHD or rule it out. That includes these tools and full neuropsychological testing. Results are always interpreted together with your clinical interview, your history, and anything else that could explain your symptoms. Testing informs my clinical judgment; it doesn’t replace it.
