Adult ADHD Evaluation, Diagnosis & Treatment — Telehealth in Maine
Personalized Follow-Up Care
Ongoing care with the same nurse practitioner: tracking what is working, adjusting what is not, and treating the whole picture rather than a prescription alone.
How prescribing works here
Medication decisions come after the evaluation, never before it. If the evaluation confirms an ADHD diagnosis and medication makes sense for your health history and your goals, we go through the options together and pick a starting point. Then I adjust based on how you actually respond, not on a schedule set by a subscription plan.
- Both categories on the table. Stimulant and non-stimulant medications each have a place. Which one fits depends on your history, health, and preference, decided together after the evaluation.
- Real follow-up. Check-ins every few weeks while we fine-tune dose and timing together, then maintenance visits every one to three months once things are steady.
- The whole picture treated. Anxiety, sleep, and mood are managed alongside ADHD when they’re part of what’s going on.
- Monitoring built in. Ongoing care includes the checks good prescribing requires, including checking Maine’s Prescription Monitoring Program as required by law. I may also ask for additional screening when clinically appropriate.
What this practice will never do: promise a prescription before an evaluation, or advertise “same-day” controlled-substance prescribing. Controlled substances are prescribed only when clinically appropriate, after a comprehensive evaluation, and in accordance with state and federal law. Federal telehealth prescribing rules are also subject to change; if the rules change, your care plan will follow them, and any needed adjustments will be discussed with you directly.
What about medication shortages?
Stimulant shortages have been a real problem nationally. When a pharmacy can’t fill a prescription, I work through it with you: checking alternative pharmacies, adjusting to an available equivalent when clinically appropriate, and keeping you informed rather than leaving you to chase refills alone.
